Earth Hour is ultimately about ‘switching off’ but in 2016 Earth Hour took a new take, inviting their supporters to switch on their social power, by donating their Facebook feed to Earth Hour and raising awareness on climate change. The #changeclimatechange campaign allows Facebook Users around the world to donate their feed to Earth Hour, allowing 5 localised posts to be shared on their News Feed in the days leading up to Earth Hour 2016. The campaign supports 28 countries, and 9 languages with localised post images and copy shared on Facebook based on a user’s timezone. Earth Hour reached over 11 million people with the #changeclimatechange campaign.
