We were commissioned by the BBC to create The Last Cast, an award winning documentary about the closure of the Corus steel plant in Redcar.
Having already produced a corporate film at the Redcar blast furnace, our film production team in Newcastle were already in a perfect position to make a documentary about the closure of the Corus plant and the thousands of workers employed there. Commissioned by the BBC and shown as part of the Inside Out strand, this observational documentary follows a group of six steel workers as they cope with redundancy after decades-long careers. The Last Cast won many international awards, including a Gold Camera at the US International Film Festival.
