Life Size Scalextric with Renault ZOE Electric Cars

Scorch London spent over five months devising and planning this stunt to build a full-size Scalextric around the streets of central London. A huge challenge for the whole team with a hectic production schedule and large-scale shoot encompassing 19 partial road closures, two helicopters, 23 tripod mounted Red cameras and no drivers! The track alone took three months to build, with a team of engineers working around the clock to ensure the tried and tested technology would work perfectly on the day of the shoot. Filmed early on a Sunday morning in November, when the roads were at their quietest, the shoot went perfectly, even the weather held out, and the ZOE's dramatically raced side by side on the track without a hitch; a huge relief for the whole production team on the day.
The director of the film, Scorch London's very own Steve Jay said "Bringing an idea like this to life has been an exhilarating experience. Racing two electric cars around a giant scalextric track in central London doesn't come without a fair few challenges, but we are incredibly excited to be involved in something that has never been done before. We're thrilled Renault let us run with this idea and indulge our fondest childhood memories."
