boldcontentvideo.com/contact-the-elderly-videos/ Love Lived is a collaborative art installation, which brings together the charity Contact The Elderly, photographer Holly Wren and video production company Bold Content. We worked together to document stories and advice about love from elderly London residents.
The notion that wisdom is more important than knowledge has never been more prevalent than in the internet age when we can learn almost anything within a few mouse clicks, but the wisdom gained from having lived a full life and made mistakes along the way was invaluable to capture for posterity.
It was fascinating to learn from 13 elderly people with such diverse experiences, most of whom were in their 80s or 90s. We were privileged that they opened up their homes and their hearts to us. Often their stories touched on poignant topics, such as the loss of a loved one, which was clearly very difficult for them to talk about so we took it as a great honour that they trusted us with their stories, their images and their recollections.
We asked each of them to give us advice that younger generations could take on board and were pleased to find that the theme of love and relationships transcends age boundaries as the advice was as relevant now as it was to our subjects when they first fell in love.
