Report about the WRX: 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show

Hi all, it's Namba from the Subaru Design Department.

Today I would like to talk about the design of the new WRX from the Los Angeles Auto Show.

We have designed the WRX, our pinnacle of performance, with an aggressive look, but also with a more refined attitude. With this, we have honed the design of our AWD high performance car.

Some information on each point, beginning from the front.

The front features the same styling as other models with the hexagon grille and the U-shaped headlamps. Fog lamps installed at each corner of the front bumper hint at the high level of performance within, which is further enhanced by its wide and low poise.

Both front and rear fenders have been pushed out to suit the level of performance on offer, and they have been incorporated into the styling to enhance the profile of this AWD sports car.

Around the rear, the lip spoiler at the top of the trunk is also styled on performance, while the bumper features an integrated diffuser. The dual mufflers exit from the left and right corners in a true show of performance. This wraps up the overall exterior design. Next I would like to talk about the interior.

And now for an explanation on the interior.

Key features include the D-shaped steering wheel and seats that firmly hug passengers. Carbon fiber panel inserts and metallic touches bolster both driving performance as well as quality.

Red stitching has been applied to the steering wheel, seats and door trims to raise the level of tension and excitement in the car.

Both the exterior and the interior have been styled with performance in mind, in a superbly refined package. We are confident that the new WRX will deliver.
