Beyond the Border ― Conservation of Grey-faced Buzzards in the Philippines SUNTORY (4m16s)

There are hawks that are born in Japan and spend the winters in Southeast Asia. They are called Sashiba or Grey-faced Buzzards. These birds, which are designated as vulnerable species, were being illegally killed in large numbers in the Philippines. When activists learned this shocking information, they came forward to protect the birds. Three years later, there was no more illegal shooting. We trace this miracle-like story in our video.

Place of shoot: Cagayan Province/Ilocos Province in the Philippines, Suntory Natural Water Sanctuary Aso, Suntory Spirits Limited Bunanomori Water Plant, Tahara City in Aichi Prefecture, Haga-gun in Tochigi Prefecture and others




Time of shoot: October 2013 to June 2017; funded by the Asian Raptor Research and Conservation Network (ARRCN)
