Working at Philips is more than just a job. It’s a journey filled with surprising experiences, like when the work and personal life come together in meaningful ways.
While Andrew was working with a global team to bring to life Philips uGrow baby development tracker providing personalized insights to new parents, that was exactly the time he was becoming a dad.
Andrew remembers those days:
“Having two children during this journey has had a tremendous impact on my work. It's also given me great insight from a consumer angle perspective about what works, what doesn't work, what do we need to improve and what do we need to change. Henry is our number one user and we've got so much data on him, about his development… it's a celebration of his life and how he is growing. It's our own digital life book.”
Knowing that your work is making an impact for young parents, including yourself, is a very special feeling that gets you out of bed every morning “I always said if I wasn't doing this for Philips I would be doing it for myself because I firmly believe this is a directory that parents need every day to help them lay the best foundations for long-term health for all children.” Andrew reveals.
uGrow is developed by a community of people around the globe: there is a team in Amsterdam that look at the product management and the design; the team in Eindhoven drive a lot of the technology research and features enhancement based on consumer insights. The software development and back end engineers are located in Bangalore; in the US, one of the key markets, the marketers drive the commercial side.
“But it really is a global network who bring this together” Andrew emphasizes: “It's an incredible journey and it's one like any transformation in any organization that has complete highs and complete lows. But the entire team has the tenacity to keep going because they believe so much in the solution that we're trying to deliver.”
