As the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League finals, one American pilot is paying particular attention. In a 12-year NHL career with four teams, spent mostly with the Blackhawks, Alan Secord was known as a tough left winger who could score goals and protect his teammates. He’s the only player in NHL history to score more than 40 goals and spend 300 minutes in the penalty box in the same season. Now he’s Captain Al Secord. The two-time NHL All-Star can now be found in the cockpit of an MD-80 aircraft, bringing the same professionalism he showed on the ice to his fellow crew members and passengers. Learn more about his transition from the ice to the cockpit.
