Gyosen Asakura is the master of Shoonji temple in Fukui. He used to immerse himself in music. He had a band, worked as a DJ, and he had a stable day job for half of his life. He decided to return and become a monk when he was 50. He fuses traditional religious images projected in brilliant lights with Buddhist sutras set to a techno beat. Since 2016, he has held 5 techno rituals, and has attracted the attention of millions worldwide.
