Shuyan and her family dwell in a 60-m2 house in the Xuhui District of Shanghai for the convenience of the kids’ schooling. But on weekends, they take a short holiday in a seaside villa in Fengxian District at a monthly rental of 3,800. They spend 400,000 renovating the villa and decorate it with deserted stuff. For them, as Shuyan says, “the house in downtown is reality while the villa here is dream.”
