Ishiuchi Miyako,the 71-Year-old Japanese photographer is the first Asian woman to win the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography. She started as a street photographer. After three years of self-teaching, she won the Japanese photography industry's highest honor — The Kimura Ihei Award. In 1987, the 40-year-old suddenly changed her style. She began focusing her lens on detailed body parts of women of the same age as hers. Fifty women became her models. In her eyes, a 40-year-old woman's hands, feet, skin, and scars spell the story of her life.
