In fact, bringing the Royal Oak, perhaps the manufacturer’s most recognizable piece, required the collaboration of many different artisans to bring Gérald Genta’s design to life. Now, in a new, unprecedented collaboration, Audemars Piguet brings together the worlds of horology and fashion with the help of Matthew Williams and his esteemed studio, 1017 ALYX 9SM.
On the set of the new GQ and Audemars Piguet film, Matthew Williams in Imaginationland, the designer ponders the influences that have remained a constant throughout his extensive career. Between takes, the designer sips espresso and watches director Arnaud Bresson at work, and considers an aspect of life that has continued to fuel him creatively. “I always, always find myself finding inspiration when I'm moving, whether that's just walking or traveling from city to city.”
The dynamic film gives the audience a rare opportunity to journey into Williams’s head, and celebrates the collaboration that emboldens Audemars Piguet’s innovative and fashion-forward capabilities. Once in Imaginationland, we meet characters who represent the many facets of Williams’s creative mind: the “Visionary,” the “Artist,” the “Wisdom,” and the “Perfectionist.”
