Few would know better than 100m and 60m European record holder Marcell Jacobs, that there might be eight lanes on a track, but sprinting is a sport of one. It’s you v you. Head to head. A stride at a time. And although there’s almost always someone within an arm’s distance of you, the battle out of the blocks is internal.

The Italian sprinter tells us that his speed on the track comes from an inner strength he has off it. Despite all of his external accolades, he continues to look inward.

Our new series “What Are You Working On” uncovers the works in progress happening around the world as athletes navigate journeys in and beyond sport
