I am fascinated with the way old era color film looks when it is restored. The colors are vibrant and full of life.
Jojo Rabbit's look was inspired from those WWII restored color films. And with fellow compatriot cinematographer @malaimarejr_cinematography on set who gave a beautiful spin shaping the light the movie has a memorable character.
Today's color grade inspiration comes from a Jojo Rabbit frame which sums up that exact color palette.
I actually went through and built a little set in our living room complete with a light, flags, and finding that red chair in the basement.
