Synopsis
Yumiko abandons her life as a geisha in Tokyo, returning to her provincial hometown. She embraces her freedom, but winds up collapsed on a riverbank. There, she is found by Koji, a bartender. They begin a simple life together, but one day Yumiko is seized by a wild impulse...
Bio
Mile Nagaoka : Filmmaker. Head of Nagaoka Motion Pictures and Ubusuna Project. Born in Yotsukaido, Chiba, 1979. Lived in Tokyo, working freelance doing camera, lights and production design for independent film productions, apprenticed for a traditional paper craft artisan, worked as art director for an NPO. Moved to Kamiyama, Tokushima prefecture in 2010. Spent the next six years filming the short documentary "Kamiyama Alone" which won Best Documentary at the Sapporo International Short Film Festival in 2017. Additionally, he has been working on an ongoing series of documentary films since 2011 called "Ubusuna" that cover Japan's folk culture and traditions, rituals and festivals, rural depopulation, forestry, and more. These films have been screened around Japan and abroad.
