Students and teachers with experiences of having to submit Natural Hair Certificates opened up and discussed their honest opinions on the hair-related school regulations in Japan. The questions that students never had a chance to ask. The thoughts that teachers never shared. PANTENE created an opportunity for them to communicate with one another. This documentary film encapsulates their dialogues.
A Natural Hair Certificate is a document that some schools in Japan request students to submit as proof that they were born with brown hair. Even after submission, some students are still instructed to dye their hair black.
At the same time, research finds that about 93% of teachers feel that "school regulations need to change with the times." The survey questions for the research are from actual middle school and high school students to their teachers.
Rather than "Follow the rules because they are rules," how about "Why are there rules?" Let students, teachers, and us have conversations about this.
By having all of us think about hair-related school regulations, may we cultivate individuality.
By making your hair beautiful as you are, PANTENE supports everyone in taking that confident step forward.
My hair moves me forward.
