Here at The Body Shop, we’re so proud that each of our quality Community Trade ingredients tells a story, and we just had to share this one with the world.
Since 1998, we’ve been working with the Castañero nut collectors who gather Brazil nuts from the forest floor in Peru and use them to create our beautifully moisturizng Community Trade Brazil nut oil. Through our trade relationship and the power of sustainable sourcing, we’re helping to protect the Madre de Dios Amazon rainforest.
Candela is a not-for-profit Fair Trade organization. Our trade helps provide a vital source of income to over 100 local women and Castañero nut-collectors, as well as providing an alternative income to logging. We’re proud to have an impact on benefits like social security, sick pay, maternity pay and pension funds, which aren’t available to most workers in the area.
So next time you treat yourself or someone special to one of our moisturizers or body massage oils that has been enriched with this wonderful ingredient from Brazil, you’ve helped give a little something back to one of the most bio-diverse areas in the world.
