Among the Elect is a superhero film unlike any sci-fi drama made in recent years. To begin, it’s multi-language – using both Spanish and English to tell the story of a Hispanic boy, who has supernatural abilities, in the year, 2018. Themes running throughout the story uniquely address several social issues such as oppression, sexual abuse, verbal abuse and racism. Overall, the hope was to reach a new level in diversity for film, while also remaining relative and epic in content.
