The notion of Spring as the season of new beginnings is not new. By ‘not new’, we mean that it was already time-tested material by the time the ancient Greeks and Romans got it down on parchment. In general, it’s difficult not to notice the rebirth of nature following the comparatively barren landscape of winter.
Normally, the symbolism of Spring isn’t something that most people would have to think about in the course of their day to day lives, but very little about the past twelve months has been normal. While the world isn’t quite ready for the full restoration of pre-pandemic life just yet, there have been glimpses of the light at the end of the tunnel. These flashes of hope have the Spring of 2021 poised to be the most keenly felt Spring of our collective lifetime, as the concepts of rejuvenation and rebirth become more than mere platitudes.
