This commercial is literally a milestone for me, not only because this precious opportunity given by one of my favorite brands Pepsi, which I was able to stepped out of my comfort zone to challenge myself to do something I have never done before: martial arts and tons of VFXs. Also it unleashes my imagination of food and let it go wild. In another word, it is the first commercial highlighting my aesthetics and philosophy of food and drinks that I have been exploring.
From the moment I got the initial brief from the creative agency to the final film you saw now, days and nights of hardworking, sketching, discussions were spent with client, agency, and my production team. I want to express my gratitude to all heroes behind each frame. Arden, the niche eye behind the camera, who elevated the cinematic look with boldness as always; the editor Jay Wang who caught my wild ideas and made them look neat together; the production designer Chen Ao, designed and supervised every details of set and props on and off set; Hou Xiao who satisfied my hypercritical requirements of in sound design; Vin and Jerry from Tracks and Fields composed this fusion music with experimental and poetic voice over/lyrics; our intelligent and diligent VFX team led by Norin Lin created this surreal world with me. Lastly, thanks for all the producers from Kuiyou Productions for sending me back, trusting my vision and offering endless support from the beginning till the end.
Now I can proudly announce: it’s a wrap for this collective work of visual arts!
