Biography:
Dani Marsh graduated from London College of Fashion with a first in BA (Hons) Fashion Illustration, a love for animation and plenty of enthusiasm for creating stories and characters. She was selected for Aesthetica Film Festival 2019, and clients include the Tate and Greatcoat Films.
Director statement:
The Ritual of Creation is a performance about how it feels to make work as an artist. The goal of the piece is to evoke the feeling that a creative has when they are confronted with a blank piece of paper and see all the possibilities for the page. The live drawing was spontaneous to be in-keeping with the ideas of the project. The set was created from thick paper to appear as a pop-up storybook, as the piece is inspired by my process of creation from childhood. The garment was created by a costume designer, and its shape is simple but romantic and comfortable, somewhere between an artist’s smock and a couture gown.
 The music is highly atmospheric and dreamlike, inspired by a trance-like state of creating and being in one’s own world. The projection represents the ephemeral ideas that come and go as work is created, interacting with the drawings and the performer.
